Responsibilities:
- Administer Linux Server Environment.
- Manage MySQL and Oracle databases, optimize data loading techniques, and provide data modeling expertise is a plus.
- Manipulate data and log files to provide extensive statistical reporting.
- Create and maintain PHP scripts.
- Ensure high level of server and network security.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of server and database environment.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years experience administrating and troubleshooting Linux Servers, with the proven ability to maintain a high level of server and network security standards.
- Extensive experience with MySQL and Oracle databases including data manipulation and data modeling.
- Expert Object Oriented PHP programming and SQL programming.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Computer Science/Engineering degree preferred.
- Familiarity with UML modeling and Macromedia Flash a plus.
- Experience with additional programming languages preferred.

Community News: ConFoo.ca Call for Papers Announced

The ConFoo.ca conference (the renamed and revamped conference formerly called PHP Quebec) has officially opened its Call for Papers ending November 13th:
Confoo.ca is launching its call for speakers for the 2010 conference. With more than 500 attendees, Confoo.ca is the largest Web development conference in North America. We are looking for the best speakers, willing to share their experiences and their skills with programmers and managers (marketing and decision makers). The 2010 event will feature many novelties in its organization and presentations.
There's two tracks for next year's conference - a technical track for things like programming, development and standards and a "decision making" track covering things like SEO, social networking and marketing analysis. Presentations can be made in English and French and speakers will have some travel and lodging expenses paid for. Skills Requirements

- Creation of Low Level Design Document from Functional Specification and Technical design document.
- Conduct Low Level Design Review with Team Lead and Technical Lead to ensure that the Low Level Designs conform to respective Functional Specifications and Technical Designs.
- Participate in code reviews with Team Lead and Technical Lead to ensure that the code adheres to the low level design, and that the code meets coding standards compliance.
- Apply rigorous testing methodologies and use cases to analyze and verify software programs, algorithms, data transformation, forms, reports and interfaces.
- Timely communication of issues and status information to Team Lead concerning system development activities.
- Generate application test data as necessary and validate any data conversion requirements for final implementation and production rollout.
- Participate in project status review meeting with Team Lead.
Technical Expectations
- 4+ years of PHP design/coding/testing in Open Source environment building large scale distributed web sites.
- Experience working in a formal software development environment
- 2-3+ years of Object Orientation software coding experience for web application
- 1-2+ years of Working with a second object oriented language such as perl or java.
- Linux, Mac O/S, MySQL, PHP 4/5, Apache/Light HTTP technology experience based on LAMP model
- Computer Science trained graduate or with equivalent work experience

About You

You will work on building A/B and multivariate web site experiments from wireframes and layout comps provided, setting up experiments in the testing platforms (Google Website Optimizer, Offermatica, etc.) and monitoring results.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong background in HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript
- Able to quickly cut up a design comp into html, css and image files ready for uploading
- Can generate new php/asp code and quickly modify existing scripting
- Experience and proficiency in testing and debugging web pages
- 3+ years of web programming experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with exceptional organizational skills and a 'never miss a deadline' commitment
- Familiarity with one or more back-end programming languages, such as PHP
Preferred:
- Proficiency with Fireworks, Photoshop, Dreamweaver
- An eye for design and interest to learn the types of design that persuades people to act online would be an asset
- Bachelor's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or CS or Design preferred, but ability trumps a degree
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, HBX, Omniture or other web analytics packages
Training in Conversion Rate Optimization skills will be provided.
